On Wednesday, April 14, FC "Ventspils" team have played quarterfinal match of the Cup of Latvia. Nunzio Dzavetteri squad at the early stage of the tournament met its arch-rivals Rīga’s FC "Skonto". In the intense struggle, in which teams were worth of each other, in the series of penalty kicks after the match, good luck accompanied “skonties”. No goals were scored during the both halves and extra time, and in the series – the lottery that consisted of 14 (!) kicks defender Ritus Krauklis was the most unlucky one as sent the ball in a crossbar. That is insulting, but that is football. Such failures only temper, as in a whole "Ventspils" in any way also deserved to be in the semi-final. Go go, Ventspils!

On Saturday, April 10, FC "Ventspils" football players have spent the first round of the championship of Latvia. In starting game the team of Nunzio Dzavetteri in out match met FC "Jelgava" which debuted in the Virsliga. The game passed in the Rīga Olympic centre, has turned out predictably persistent and intense, but, that’s important, has ended with a strong-willed victory of the yellow-blues with 2:1. Winning goals were made by forward Sergey Shumilin and halfback Jury Zhigaev. The first step was victorious, and now it is the most important! Go forward, "Ventspils"!

FK "Ventspils" has been more or less successful with its performance in the Latvian championship and the Baltic League tournament. Please see the results of the recently played matches in the above mentioned tournaments:

Since January 18, FK "Ventspils" has been travelling to the training camps to go through the neccessary and fruitful preparation for the season of 2010, which basically starts in April.

On December 16, FK "Ventspils" played their final match in Europa League group stage. However, the yellow-and-blue, did not manage to get into the next round but they have done a great job and had the great season. The captain of FK "Ventspils" Yevgeny Kosmachov was given the title of the best player in Latvia (U-21). 

On Thursday, December 3, "Ventspils" team played the 5th match in the UEFA Europa League group stage. Dzavettieri team played in Riga against "Hertha". In the intense struggle "Hertha" managed to use the unfortunate mistake of "Ventspils" and won by 1:0. The goal was scored by Raffael. In the course of the match the yellow-and-blue were very close to scoring an equalizer, however "Hertha" survived and did not concede the goal. This is the sad loss, but there is nothing to be ashamed of, our team played well and deserved the draw if not more. This unfortunate result means that "Ventspils" will finish its Eurocup season on December 16 by the match against "Heerenveen".

On Thursday, December 3, "Ventspils" team will play UEFA Europa League match against team of Germany - "Hertha". The match will take place at "Skonto" stadium in Riga.
